The Yahyel are a Gray–human hybrid civilization described in Bashar's channeled material and related sources. Because they look so close to human and are said to be at ease with technology, they are often named as likely first-contact ambassadors. They are described as close kin of Bashar's own Essassani people.

Sources picture someone a little smaller than most humans, pale, with noticeably larger eyes: familiar enough to feel almost like family. In the channeled literature, that familiarity is exactly why they are expected to be among the first to meet us openly.

The crosswalk notes that Bashar places the Yahyel prominently in his contact narratives and describes hybrid civilizations, especially the Yahyel and the Sassani-connected contact process, as highly relevant to early open contact. In his framework, contact unfolds in phases (psychological preparation, precursor events, then physical meetings) as humanity becomes ready, rather than as a rescue.
Bashar, as channeled by Darryl Anka, names the Yahyel (also spelled Ya'Yel or Yah-yel) as the fifth of five hybrid races and the most human-looking of them. He presents them as the civilization most likely to make the first open, face-to-face contact with humanity. In his description they would not force anything: they would wait for humanity to show curiosity and invite them. Bashar describes the Yahyel as the 'watchers' or keepers of the Shalanaya, the hybrid children.
Bashar's dates for open contact with the Yahyel have changed over the decades. Compilations of his talks give a window of about 2025 to 2033, and he has always added that it depends on humanity's vibration and readiness. More recent interviews and coverage (2024–2026) focus on 2027 as a likely threshold, while some of his talks call it a probability rather than a certainty. Fan sources disagree on whether 'Shalinaya' is just another name for the Yahyel or a separate, sixth group.
The A–Z encyclopedia describes the Yahyel as a hybrid civilization combining human and Zeta heritage and closely related to the Sassani. It calls them first-contact ambassadors, suited to the role by their near-human form and harmonious relationship with technology, and records the channeled claim that they were behind the March 13, 1997 Phoenix Lights as a calling card.
