Tall Grays are the very tall, lanky gray beings that sources place above the smaller Grays as supervisors and diplomats. Ismael Perez describes them as historically Orion-aligned with a few exceptions, preferring influence through agreements over open conflict, and says their present threat is greatly reduced. The encyclopedia preserves a tragic origin story linking them to the collapse of a Nordic civilization at Rigel.

Elizabeth April channels a tall Zeta-Grey named Heera, who presents as a 'galactic ambassador' working on the hybridization program between Greys and humans. She describes Heera as a past-life version of herself living on a timeline roughly 500,000 years ago, and in an interview she said these tall Zeta beings come from the sixth and eighth dimensions.
The Family of Taygeta calls the tall Grays the Maitre, a name glossed as 'master', and describes them as among the most amoral and regressive species known — thought to have been bred by the Orion reptilians and to work in a negative alliance alongside them. Mari Swaruu says they are known only on Earth and Mars, where they share territory under a treaty with Mantis and reptilian groups, and she even suggests they may be partly an egregore, a being fed into existence by collective fear.
The A–Z encyclopedia describes taller Grays (6–9 ft) as the directing class of the gray populations. Its Rigellan entry tells a tragic story: after a nuclear civil war collapsed the Nordic civilization of Rigel, infiltrating Zeta Grays are said to have merged with the survivors' genetics, producing the Tall Grays, a people described as gripped by fear of their own extinction.
